The location was perfect - close to all the attractions and the views were stunning. We loved the privacy and how bright and airy the cottage was. The bed was super comfortable and the linens were of high quality. The cottage was impeccably clean and our host welcomed us with warm hospitality. The abundance of local maps and information provided really helped us plan our stay. Highly recommended for a romantic getaway.
While this might not be a big issue for everyone, the steep incline leading up to the cottage was a challenge. It required quite a bit of effort to climb up, especially if you're not particularly fit.

Oh, climbing up and down the hill to town was such a delightful workout. Definitely not for the faint of heart!

The value for money at Colenso Cottage was outstanding. The room was beautiful, with a cozy old-world feel and a super comfy bed. The location was perfect, close to the town center and surrounded by lovely properties. Katie, the staff member, was incredibly attentive and the attention to detail was greatly appreciated.
It would be great if there were more breakfast items offered.

historic colenso cottage in napier exceeded our expectations. the rooms were larger than expected, with a comfortable bed and high quality linens. the cottage manager, katie, was delightful and very helpful. the location was quiet and only a few minutes walk from the town center. we loved the historical element of living in the original home of the first european settler on the hill. don't miss the botanical gardens and take the interiors tour for a unique art deco experience.

We had a fantastic stay at this charming historic cottage! The location was perfect, with easy walking distance to town and the beach. The bedroom was incredibly spacious and the bed was so comfortable. The heating kept us warm during the cold days, and the fully equipped kitchen was a bonus. Our host was lovely and provided us with useful information about the area. We also appreciated the cleanliness of the cottage and the promptness of the host in attending to any issues.
The wifi was a bit unreliable, but it seemed like they were working on fixing it.
